Fantasy Football Stock Report: Chargers RB Danny Woodhead avoids an injury scare

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

“The Chargers appeared to avoid a scare when running back Danny Woodhead had his left ankle rolled up on by a defensive lineman during team drills on Wednesday. McCoy said the talented running back appeared to avoid serious injury, apparently suffering just a sprained ankle.”

-Eric D. Williams, ESPN

Things were tense at Chargers practice yesterday, when the team was crowded around their playmaking running back. Danny Woodhead eventually walked off under his own power and was later diagnosed with an ankle sprain. The former Hard Knocks hero was a favorite of Phillip Rivers’ last season and led the team in receptions (80), receiving yards (755) and receiving touchdowns (6). In 2016, he will continue to kill it in a PPR format.

A healthy Tony Romo and a healthy Dez Bryant do special things together on the football field. Add ‘Zeke to the mix and you better get your popcorn ready in Jerry’s World. Bryant is a clear-cut WR1 as long as both him and Romo are healthy, and he should put up monster numbers in ’16.

“We didn’t take every opportunity we should have,” Shanahan said. “Usually, explosive plays have never been an issue. Our guy who can do it the most, Julio [Jones], he got a bunch at the beginning of the year, but it’s a little harder when there’s always a second guy over the top.”

– Vaughn McClure, ESPN

This development out of Falcons’ camp should leave fans and fantasy owners with grins on their faces. More deep balls for Julio Jones? Yes please. He should benefit from more single coverage since they added Mohammed Sanu in the off-season, which will help clear out the middle of the field and force safeties to keep their eyes on Sanu in the slot. Matt Ryan should bounce back in ’16 and Jones may give you a few more +40-yard bonuses (if your league is into that stuff).

Eddie Lacy weight update!

After showing up to OTAs in the 240-pound area, the Packers were still concerned with Eddie Lacy’s weight. Lacy is continuing to work on his body and is expected to do more P90X workouts with founder Tony Horton before he arrives at training camp. Lacy actually looked good after working with Horton after the season concluded, but he may have put on some pounds before OTAs. Not only does Lacy want to impress the Packers, but it’s also a contract year for the former ‘Bama star. Will he eat himself out of the league? We’ll keep you updated.

Also, we’ll just leave this here:

Not strictly fantasy:

  • The Jags got some good luck with Jalen Ramsey, as he stated he will be 100 percent for training camp
  • In other Chargers news, Melvin Gordon looked fully healthy during minicamp and ready to roll after a terrible rookie year
  • Big Ben wants to go for two-point conversions after every touchdown this season. This would be great for Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown owners, but not so much for Shaun Suisham owners.
