Fantasy Football Stock Report: Ezekiel Elliott injures hamstring at Cowboys practice

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

This could be huge news as Elliott hurt his hamstring in practice today. Zeke was predicted by some to shoulder anywhere from 350-375 carries this year so a setback like this could be  detrimental to his progress. With Elliott, McFadden, and Dunbar injured the Cowboys may look to add another running back to their rotation if Elliott is in danger of missing any regular season action. Hamstring injuries are never good, and this is something to definitely monitor considering Elliott is considered a first round lock in fantasy drafts.

More Josh Doctson injury news as this time it’s his Achilles Tendon that’s hurt as opposed to his old walking boot. Doctson was selected in the first round this year by Washington to help give Kirk Cousins more weapons to work with. Doctson has nice upside, but the Redskins still have Desean Jackson, Jordan Reed and Pierre Garcon to throw the ball to. Doctson offers more long-term potential, but this Washington offense is shaping up to be quite the special one.

“Through four training-camp practices, Coates has been a regular with Brown with the No. 1 offense. That has led to reps against the Steelers’ best defensive backs.”

Sammie Coates has been getting first team reps with Antonio Brown in the prolific Steelers offense. The suspension of Martavis Bryant leaves a huge void on the outside for Coates to ideally fill, and Coates could have serious late round value. Last year Coates was expected to play a larger role and that fizzled out. Hopefully he has adjusted to the NFL and can make a nice sophomore year impact in Pittsburgh.

Not strictly fantasy:

  • The greatest man in the world, Tom Brady, turned 39 today. Happy Birthday sweet prince
  • Kansas City has signed free agent Nick Foles, reuniting him with Coach Andy Reid
  • Derek Carr and Amari Cooper will be rooming together at Raiders camp. They should bunk beds to have more room for activities.
