Fantasy Football Stock Report: David Johnson is ready to explode

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

“This guy’s got an unusual knack of being able to pick and slide and do some things laterally. And then his receiving and ball skills are second to none. I mean, probably the best receiving back I’ve seen. A lot of people have compared him to Marshall Faulk, and our coaches had Marshall Faulk in Indy,” Keim said. “I think he’s very similar in some ways athletically and in terms of ball-catching skills to Marshall.

These are some BIG words/compliments being thrown at Johnson and everyone at Cardinals camp is gushing over his talent and potential. Add in that he’s being compared to Marshall Faulk regarding his catching abilities out of the backfield, and fantasy owners can expect to see many receptions coming his way. Johnson will be set up for PPR gold this year and is looking good to be the #1 RB selected this season.

Devin Funchess was a popular name last year in drafts as someone who would provide great value in the bottom rounds. It seems that Funchess has really improved this offseason and it’s been showing at camp. Funchess has that potential to offer great upside again towards the ends of drafts as a receiver opposite of Benjamin on the outside.

After injuring his hand, LaFell was seeing the possibility of missing some regular season time. An hand injury is not ideal to any receiver, especially LaFell who struggled mightily with drops last season. He has had a solid camp so far with the Bengals and is locked into the #2 spot alongside AJ Green. He should be able to replicate Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu’s production from last year which makes him an intriguing option later in drafts.

Quick Hits:

  • Marcell Dareus was hit with a 4 game suspension for substance abuse
  • Receiver John Brown is still dealing with the league’s concussion protocol
  • Le’Veon Bell still has no timetable on his suspension appeal
  • Thomas Rawls could lose a handful of carries to Christine Michael this year
