Fantasy Football: Rob Gronkowski ruled out for Patriots opener vs. Cardinals

After days of speculation, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was officially ruled out by the Patriots for their opener versus the Arizona Cardinals.

When it comes to fantasy football, this is obviously major news. But to look on the bright side, atleast the Patriots ruled him out tonight, which would allow Gronk owners to start their TE2, or to pick up a tight end off waivers.

Some solid tight end choices off waivers would include: Vance McDonald (available in 67% of Yahoo! leagues), Jordan Cameron (80%), Jesse James (81%) and Kyle Rudolph (83%).

Jimmy Garoppolo is completely off the radar (obviously); however, James White, and Martellus Bennett will definetly benefit from the absence of Gronk. White can be trusted as a RB2 in PPR leagues and Bennett can be relied upon as a TE1.

It sucks, but Gronk will soon be making the turf rumble at Gillette Stadium.
