It looked bad on Sunday night, when Adrian Peterson could not put any weight on his injured right leg, when he was helped off the field and into the tunnel of the Vikings’ new stadium. Per Vikings coach, Mike Zimmer, Peterson has a torn meniscus and there is no timetable for his recovery at this moment.
Mike Zimmer to @DanBarreiroKFAN on Adrian Peterson: "He's got a torn meniscus." Timetable uncertain at this point. #Vikings

Although Zimmer did not put a timetable on Peterson’s recovery, a meniscus tear –depending on the severity of the tear — can be anywhere from 3-to-6 weeks, to 3-to-6 months, if surgery is required.
Mike Zimmer did not dismiss idea that Adrian Peterson could play this week with torn meniscus. https://t.co/WTHVCSDqs1

Meniscus tears need arthroscopic surgery.
if trim, return 2-4 weeks.
If repair (larger tear), minimum 3 months. https://t.co/f0lMID13aS— David J. Chao – ProFootballDoc (@ProFootballDoc) September 19, 2016
Although it is a wild thought that Peterson could play this week, you never know with his insane genetics.
If Jerick McKinnon and/or Matt Asiata are available in your respective league, put a waiver claim in, although that timeshare is going to be a major fantasy nightmare.
P.S. Have to respect it when regular Joes compare their own injuries, to those of elite athletes:
As a guy who had torn meniscus surgery 5 days ago, will be BLOWN AWAY if Adrian Peterson plays Sunday. But he, unlike me, is a medical freak
