2016 Fantasy Football PPR Rankings: Week 5 Quarterbacks

Week 5 is upon us, and we are creeping closer to the “make or break” point of your fantasy season. Perhaps you’re at the top, needing to stay ahead to secure the bye. Or maybe you’re trapped in the cellar and need to string off a miracle stretch run. Regardless, find out who side with in tough lineup decisions — especially with so many explosive team’s on bye– with The Wolf’s rankings.

Bye Weeks: Jacksonville, New Orleans, Seattle, Kansas City

Sunday Update:

  • Cam Netwon has been ruled out. Derek Anderson becomes a viable punt play with a stacked weapons cabinet against a horrible Tampa Bay defense
  • Similarly, Trevor Siemian has been ruled out, giving the athletic freak Paxton Lynch some appeal against a whorish Flacons defense.
  • The Ravens – Redskins matchup features winds of 20-25 MPH, including gusts reaching 35-40 MPH. This could be a ground and pound show that limits the appeal of both QBs. There are some higher upside streamers available (Paxton Lynch, Brian Hoyer) in most leagues.

Tier 1 – Potential Top Scorers

1. Tom “The Almighty” Brady (NE) @ CLE- He’s hung dong in Italy. Now, our savior returns to his favorite place to whip the hammer out: the football field. Sure, some rust might need to be shaken off early, but that should happen rather quickly against a hapless Browns team. Brady’s revenge tour starts Sunday, and those who have patiently waited through his bye weeks are about to be rewarded.

2.  Aaron Rodgers (GB) vs. NYG
3. Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) vs. NYJ

4. Andrew Luck (IND) vs. CHI

Tier 2 – Desireable QB1 options

5. Derek Carr (OAK) vs. SD

6. Carson Wentz (PHI) @ DET

7. Philip Rivers (SD) @ OAK

8. Eli Manning (NYG) @ GB – Similar to Blake “London God” Bortles last week, Manning is almost out of  chances to prove he’s a legitimate QB1 for fantasy owners. A shootout against a fairly porous Green Bay secondary should help, especially if Ben McAdoo feels the need to oil his squeaky ODell wheel.

Tier 3 – Back-end starters

9. Andy Dalton (CIN) at DAL

10. Matt Ryan (ATL) @ DEN – Repeat after me: I will not bench Matt Ryan again. I will not bench Matt Ryan again… and then the Broncos come to town. If he does it this week, there’ll truly be nothing left to prove.

11. Jameis Winston (TB) @ CAR

12. Matthew Stafford (DET) vs. PHI – I’m not necessarily down on Stafford, I just think Philly’s defense is very legitimate.

Tier 4 – Streamers and QB2s with (some) upside

13. UPDATE Paxton Lynch (DEN) vs. ATL –  Trevor Siemian has been ruled out, giving the athletic freak Paxton Lynch some appeal against a whorish Flacons defense.

Cam Netwon has been ruled out. Derek Anderson becomes a viable punt play with a stacked weapons cabinet against a horrible Tampa Bay defense

14. Brian Hoyer (CHI) @ IND – Another great bye-week flier if no one above is available.

15. Dak Prescott (DAL) vs. CIN – Definitely a higher floor than the above two if you want more guaranteed production.

16. Kirk Cousins (WAS) @ BAL

UPDATE The Ravens – Redskins matchup features winds of 20-25 MPH, including gusts reaching 35-40 MPH. This could be a ground and pound show that limits the appeal of both QBs. There are some higher upside streamers available (Paxton Lynch, Brian Hoyer) in most leagues.

17. Joe Flacco (BAL) vs. WAS

18. Tyrod Taylor (BUF) @ LA

19. Derek Anderson (CAR) vs. TB

20. Ryan Fitzpatrick (NYJ) @ PIT

21. Ryan Tannehill (MIA) vs. TEN – he puked all over himself last week despite a ripe matchup. You should be able to avoid him.

22. Marcus Mariota (TEN) @ MIA

Tier 5- Please tell me you’re not this desperate

23. Sam Bradford (MIN) vs. HOU

24. Drew Stanton (ARI) at SF

25. Brock Osweiler (HOU) @ MIN

26. Blaine Gabbert (SF) vs. ARI

27. Case Keenum (LA) vs. BUF

28. Cody Kessler (CLE) vs. NE
