Dancing With the Stars Week 3 Preview

Dancing With The Stars Week 3 Preview

We head to “Vegas” this week on Dancing With The Stars, which can only mean one thing — LOTS of sequins! How about a video from last year’s winner Laurie Hernandez showing us how jazz, Michael Jackson, dancing and Vegas is DONE!

The celebrities and their professional partners are tasked with performing to the iconic hits from famous Vegas shows. Simone is going to tumble her way through the Quickstep — where she’ll be scolded for “breaking frame” but will deliver an over the top energetic performance — and rock on to Elvis! One Vegas show I DREAM of seeing has always been Britney’s — Heather and Val are going to do her justice as they deliver an intense, high scoring Tango to “Toxic.” And although I’m pumped to see Magic Mike represented, I’m disappointed “Raining Men” didn’t make the cut. Maybe we’ll get lucky with a professional formation?

Rashad and Normani will also dominate the top of the leaderboard this week. His choice of Samba and her’s of the Foxtrot will just further bring into focus their ability to dance all styles. These four will put up the highest scores without a doubt. Nancy, Bonner and Erika are all hit or miss for me this week. I wouldn’t expect top notch scores, but certainly not the lowest we’ve seen all season.

As for who’s going home? It’s hard to say. Mr T is REALLY trying his best and truly wants to be here. Charo is CRAZY — the type Americans elect president so it’s possible she gets some votes. One can hope Erika gets eliminated but I’ll just keep muting the television if she sticks around.

Bottom Three Prediction: Mr T, Charo, Nick

Who’s going home? Charo, your crazy days are over!

Simone Biles & Sasha Farber

Quickstep – “Viva Las Vegas” by Elvis Presley

One of, if not the highest score of the night, Simone won’t hesitate a moment to show off her Olympic skills here. Traditionally Quickstep remains in a closed dance hold but seeing as it’s DWTS there’s some room for interpretation. She proved to have a good frame in tango, quickness in Cha Cha and now it’s time to put it all together. Her highest score of the season is in store and what better than a CLASSIC Vegas tune to get the crowd at home amped up.

Score Prediction: 34

Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess

Charleston – “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” by Fergie and GoonRock and Q-Tip

A Charleston? If you think Bonner is going to replicate the below PERFECT score than you’re wrong. Can he come close? Perhaps nearby. This dance requires lots of synchronization, fast sharp movements. We know Bonner and Sharna have chemistry, but can they deliver? Maybe it’s their week. But I’ll keep chanting… “Bonner Bonner please don’t be a goner!”

Score Prediction: 29

Charo & Keo Motsepe

Foxtrot – “Chapel of Love” by The Dixie Cups

If Keo can reign Charo in for a Foxtrot than he should be deemed a SAINT! Perhaps this is her week to simmer? Doubt it. Foxtrot is a smooth dance, as if you’re gliding across the floor. Rolling equally and effortlessly through your feet helps to create the illusion you’re floating. I think she’ll get the character, but the technique, doubtful.

Score Prediction: 22

Erika Jayne & Gleb Savchenko

Jive – “Take Me to Heaven” by Patina Miller & Debbie Kurup & Amy Booth-Steel

I think everyone is aware of my thoughts on Erika. Her attitude just doesn’t fit into this show and doesn’t belong in dancing. She’s probably going to do okay score-wise. Jive incorporates fast, sharp movements, flicks of the feet but you’re behind if you do even the smallest mistake. I don’t think it’ll be her best performance, but it’ll be okay.

Score Prediction: 25

Rashad Jennings & Emma Slater

Samba – “Swalla” – Jason Derulo featuring Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign

Rashad has put it out clear as day that he wants to take home that Mirror Ball trophy — and he’s got the moves to do just that. He did quite well with the Cha Cha, but Samba is slightly different. If he can master the hip lift action, nail the “1 a 2” timing and deliver the same kind of energy as he has been showing, he’ll come out perhaps on top. Look for a high score here.

Score Prediction: 33

Nancy Kerrigan & Artem Chigvintsev

Samba – “Shake Your Bon-Bon” by Ricky Martin

I’m a HUGE fan of the song choice. Can Nancy overcome her slight mishaps in the cha cha into greater things for the samba? She’s got to put a lot into this in order to give it the youthful, energetic look it requires. This won’t be her worst week, but it won’t be her best. Consider it on par with her previous score.

Score Prediction: 28

Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy

Foxtrot – “Big Spender” by Shirley Bassey

Vegas is the theme and Normani couldn’t have chosen better. This girl is going to bring the sass, style, showmanship and everything it takes to bring home that Mirror Ball! I believe the theme of the week, the character of the dance and Val’s extreme talent help them to bring home BIG numbers this week.

Score Prediction: 33

Heather Morris & Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Tango – “Toxic” by Britney Spears

One of my favorite tangos. One of my favorite songs ever. One of the best Vegas performers ever. Can Heather and Max do it justice? I once taught a 5 year old a tango routine to this song — I’m searching for the video — and she stole the show! I think these two are going to shut it down. They’ve got the “tango intensity” in the bag.

Score Prediction: 33

Mr. T & Kym Herjavec

Foxtrot – “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” by Robbie Williams

You’ve got to give T all the credit in the world. He’s REALLY trying his best. His intentions are from the heart. And Kym is a great partner for him. Foxtrot? Oh my. Let’s hope his smooth personality translates onto the dance floor.

Score Prediction: 21

David Ross & Lindsay Arnold

Jazz – “Candy Shop” by 50 Cent

Props to David for representing Magic Mike. Candy Shop, 50 Cent and Jazz? This is the one I’m MOST looking forward to seeing. I won’t even comment on any of the above mentioned variables. It’s like a bloody mary — this is either going to save the day, or just make it drag on THAT much worse.

Score Prediction: 25

Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd

Tango – “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga

Is Gaga a Vegas show? It’s unclear. But what IS clear is that this could be the dance that helps Nick breakthrough. Strong, sharp, more rigid style of dance blends more with the feedback he’s been given this season. It suits him more. Another one of my favorite songs – an iconic music video. Do you think we’ll see any side by side action during the chorus? Perhaps. Expect lots of chest from both Nick and Peta.

Score Prediction: 27
