Monday Morning Trainer’s Room: Carson Wentz and Josh McCown Highlight the NFL Week 14 Injury Report

Ugh.

Injuries are a part of the game, but for fantasy football, they’re a major part of the game. One player gets hurt and your whole roster could crumble if you don’t have a backup plan. We’re here to update you on the most fantasy-relevant injuries and how their team plans to move forward.

Ugh. This is why Philly can’t have nice things. The Eagles Super Bowl hopes came to a screeching halt when their MVP candidate quarterback dove into the end zone for a touchdown and likely tearing his left ACL in the process. Wentz was a warrior though, as he remained in the game for another drive, which included a touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery. For the Eagles, they’ll turn to Nick Foles, who is better than most backups in the league, but cannot replace what Wentz brought to the Eagles this season. From a fantasy standpoint, hopefully you have a viable backup. If not, The Wolf will scour the waiver wire for you to find a couple of streamer options for Weeks 15 and 16. Good luck.

After dismantling their tank job by winning way too many games with Josh McCown under center, the Jets will turn to Bryce Petty for the rest of the season after McCown suffered a broken left hand against the Broncos. McCown revitalized his career in New York and even transformed himself into a better than average fantasy quarterback. One would have to believe that Robby Anderson and Jermaine Kearse’s stock will crumble with Petty at quarterback, so if you have a better options at receiver, that would be beneficial. The Jets should look into re-signing McCown after the season to form a veteran bridge to their future (bust) quarterback that they draft in April.

Cold Tub:

  • Amari Cooper’s injured ankle flared up again when he was rolled up on; we’ll continue to monitor his status throughout the week
  • Kelvin Benjamin reinjured his knee for the 50th time this season; we’ll keep you updated with his status for Week 15
  • Tom Savage literally had a seizure on the field when he suffered a concussion, SOMEHOW passed the ‘concussion protocol,’ and then returned to the field before eventually exiting for the remainder of the game. TJ Yates would take over for Savage if he misses Week 15.
  • Nathan Peterman suffered a concussion and did not return. If he misses next week, it means Joe Webb is the only healthy quarterback on the roster, which is a fantasy disaster for all parties, excluding LeSean McCoy.
  • Elijah McGuire injured his ankle and did not return; opening things up for Bilal Powell and Matt Forte
  • Marcus Mariota sucked yesterday, but his head coach said he played through an injured knee. However, he did not miss a snap.
  • Byron Marshall (hamstring) and Samaje Perine (stomach) both left the game and did not return. Something called LeShun Daniels Jr. toted the rock for the first time in his NFL career. *shrug*
  • Keep streaming against the Bucs. Their one bright spot, Gerald McCoy, fears that he’s torn his biceps for the third time in his career.
