Daily Fantasy Stock Report: Jamaal Charles Unlikely to Play Week 1

Every morning we compile the most important fantasy football links of the day for you to stay up-to-date and ahead of your fantasy opponents… This is your number one place for beat writer blabber, injury news, transaction tracking, and fantasy analysis from the experts who taught us a thing or two.

After reporting last week (article HERE) that Charles had yet to regain the lead role in Kansas City’s backfield, we’re hit with this monster update that Charles likely won’t play in the Week 1 opener. Charles’ stock continues to drop this preseason and he is in serious danger of slipping draft boards rapidly. This likely allows Spencer Ware to be the Chiefs starting running back Week 1. Ware is an intriguing RB2 when he’s featured and can be a late round steal in drafts at this time. Keep monitoring Charles’ status for both Weeks 1 and 2.

Arian Foster was listed as the Miami Dolphins starting running back on their official depth chart today. It’s the same old song and dance with Foster; for as long as he remains healthy, he will be a solid fantasy running back. While he was slow to produce in the preseason and gets a horrible draw against Seattle in Week 1, Foster has a murky looking start to his fantasy season. If you do end up drafting Foster, drafting his backup Jay Ajayi is a MUST.

Matt Jones expects to play Monday night in Week 1 depsite just coming back from a shoulder injury. I’m not sure how “great” he feels knowing that he was dressed in a non-contact jersey at practice today, but regardless the Redskins running back group is one that fantasy owners should stay away from. Possibly take a very late flyer on Rob Kelley just in case Jones happens to get hurt again.

QB Shaun Hill was QB1 at Vikings practice today. While Hill should not be on anyone’s radar by any means, all this means is that nobody should be starting Stefon Diggs or any other Viking’s receiver until Sam Bradford takes over. I don’t think Hill is very capable of making his receivers fantasy relevant.

Quick Hits:

  • Josh Doctson was back at Redskins practice today
  • Carson Wentz was named the Eagles starter today. This is better for Eagles fantasy players than having Chase Daniel under center in my opinion
  • Dolphins WR DeVante Parker missed practice again with a hamstring injury
  • Bengals TE Tyler Eifert will not be practicing this week
