Many owners panicked about Marlon Mack’s fantasy outlook once Andrew Luck retired. On Sunday versus the Chargers, Mack assuaged any worries. He proved to be the three-down workhorse we were promised all offseason, hogging 48 of 63 snaps (76%) and monopolizing backfield carries (25 of 33, 75%).
Even better? Mack thrived with the work. He exploded for 174 yards and a TD, keeping the Colts within striking distance of the Chargers all game. This included a career-long 63 yard scamper.

Perhaps most importantly, Jacoby Brissett looked fully competent. Sure, his 190 yards aren’t eye-opening. But Brissett kept the chains moving, was highly accurate (21/27, 77% completion), and never turned the ball over.
Plus, the offensive line looks every-bit as beastly as last season. Mack had gaping holes, Brissett was upright all night. Ultimately, owners can breath a huge sigh of relief. Though Mack’s upside remains slightly less without Luck, the floor feels much sturdier after this strong outburst.
